    Things To Do In Pawleys Island

    With all the tidal creeks, marshes, rivers and ocean, sand and surf, it is time to get outside!


    Paddleboarding is an awesome way to maneuver through and around Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet and Litchfield beaches.     There are a several places in the area to rent jon boats. Common sense is essential but experience, although helpful, not required. If you take instruction well and can read a map, you should feel comfortable escorting a couple of people, even a small family, for an adventure into the marsh and its serpentine creeks. Take plenty of water and be keenly aware of the tides.

    All the golf courses found in the Waccamaw Neck area (towns of Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, Pawleys Island and Georgetown) is known as The Waccamaw Golf Trail.     Brookgreen Gardens

    Brookgreen Gardens — Since 1931, this 9,100-acre Nation Historic Landmark garden/museum of native flora and fauna has over 1400 statues by world-renowned sculptors throughout.     Huntington Beach State Park

    Huntington Beach State Park offers its visitors 2500 acres of the best preserved beach on the Grand Strand. A freshwater lagoon, saltmarsh, maritime forest and 3 miles of beach are outstanding examples of the state’s natural coastal environment. Atalaya,the National Landmark home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, is also on site and open year-round for tours and events.


    Located about two hours north of Pawleys Island, Wilmington, NC offers village charm, history and cosmopolitan Flair. The historic river district offers unique shops, great dining and vibrant night life. Downtown, take a garden stroll, stop at a quaint cafe, board Battleship North Carolina or tour local film sites.


    Located about an hour and a half south of Pawleys Island, iconic Charleston has so much to see and do.  It is hard to just spend one day there.  But if you haven’t visited it yet and you only have one day, you must enjoy the historical prominence of this romantic place.  It is everywhere!  Take a walking tour and a carriage ride downtown. That’s a great start!
